Only 1% of Russians spent New Year holidays abroad - poll

MOSCOW. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Only 1% of Russian citizens interviewed in a recent survey travelled abroad during the New Year and Orthodox Christmas holidays, according to the findings of a Russian Public Opinion Research Center poll published on the center's website on Wednesday.

When asked by pollsters how they had spent their New Year and Christmas holidays, 34% of respondents said that they had visited family and friends. Seventeen percent of respondents went to a skating rink, went tobogganing or skied, another 17% spent the holidays in the countryside, and 12% of those polled stayed at home. Respondents could give any number of answers to this question.

The nationwide telephone survey was conducted on January 13, 2023 and involved 1,600 respondents aged 18 and above.
