Ukrainian Presidential Office chief, U.S. deputy secretary of state discuss recovery of Ukrainian power sector

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Presidential Office chief Andrei Yermak and United States Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman discussed the recovery of damaged Ukrainian power supply infrastructure elements at a meeting in Kiev on Monday.

Taking part in the meeting were also U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, Ukrainian Presidential Office deputy chief Andrei Sibiga, Ukrenergo power grid operator CEO Vladimir Kudritsky, and high-ranking military commanders, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the presidential press service.

The meeting participants discussed cooperation with international partners to support the Ukrainian power sector's recovery, which is supervised by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt, the presidential press service said.

Pyatt's efforts have helped arrange a regular dialogue between Ukraine and its partners from the G7, the European Union and its institutions, and representatives of financial and nongovernmental organizations on providing equipment to support the Ukrainian power system, it said.

Ukraine extremely values this support in rebuilding its power supply and other critical infrastructure, Yermak said.

"We are committed to openness and transparency of all information," Yermak said.
