Rosatom entity begins supplying fuel to BelNPP

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - JSC TVEL, the fuel division of Rosatom state corporation, has begun supplying fuel to the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) under a bilateral contract, the company said in a statement.

"BelNPP has successfully passed the incoming control of fresh nuclear fuel supplied from Russia for subsequent scheduled preventative maintenance in 2023 and refueling at the No. 1 power unit," according to the statement.

Deliveries of nuclear fuel for the initial loading and the first refueling for each power unit have been included in the general contract for constructing the power plant. Subsequent deliveries are conducted under the bilateral contract signed at the end of 2017 between TVEL and BelNPP, TVEL said.

The design strategy for utilizing fuel in the BelNPP VVER-1200 reactors envisages a four-year fuel cycle with one refueling every 12 months during scheduled preventative maintenance, the company said.
