Coronavirus incidence rate in Russia up by nearly 41% over past week - HQ

MOSCOW. Jan 16 (Interfax) - Russia's incidence rate of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population increased by 40.5% over the past week, with 75 constituent parts of the country having seen an increase in the number of cases, the coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"The incidence rate of novel coronavirus infection cases per 100,000 population stood at 21.4 last week, up by 40.5% week-on-week. The incidence rate increased in 75 constituent territories of Russia," it said.

The headquarters had reported the Covid-19 incidence rate's decrease by 41% to 15.2 per 100,000 population a week before.

The rate of coronavirus-related hospitalizations per 100,000 population last week was 3.7, up by 32.1% compared to the previous week. The number of hospitalizations per 100,000 people grew in 64 federal entities, including an increase above the national average in 21 of them, it said.

Russia has recorded a total of 21,860,902 Covid-19 cases, 394,438 related deaths, and 21,278,106 recoveries since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, it said.
