Ukrainian PM and U.S. ambassador discuss strengthening Ukraine's energy sustainability

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and U.S. Ambassador in Kiev Bridget Brink have discussed cooperation in the energy sector.

"We spoke with U.S. Ambassador in Kiev Bridget Brink about strengthening Ukraine's energy sustainability," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Shmygal as saying in a social media post.

Together with partners, the Ukrainian government is developing mechanisms to help balance the country's energy system, he said.

"We discussed proposals from the Ukrainian energy sector and the issue of purchasing necessary equipment. Counting on the help of the U.S.," he said.

Apart from that, Ukraine and Italy plan to start a new bilateral energy partnership, which will help introduce modern energy-saving and carbon-free technologies and projects, Ukrainian media said, citing the press service of Ukraine's Energy Ministry.

"We are particularly grateful for the Italian government's decision to provide 10 million euros in assistance to Ukraine," Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.
