Ukrtransgaz completes reconstruction of central block of wells at UGS facility
MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian gas storage operator Ukrtransgaz JSC has completed largescale reconstruction of the central block of wells at one of its underground gas storages (UGS), Ukrainian media reported on January 6 with reference to Naftogaz Group's statement.
"The work done made it possible to increase the service life of the equipment, automate all the production processes and save energy resources during further maintenance and operation of the central block," the statement said.
As Ukrtransgaz reported, the first stage of reconstruction at this UGS facility was carried out in 2015-2016. Then 24 gas separators were replaced at the facility and the gas purification process was retrofitted.
In 2021, the second phase of work began and was successfully completed in late 2022.
"During the operations, new separation equipment, a well connection unit and a number of other gas gathering and treatment facilities were installed at the UGSF, the central connection unit, shutoff valves and all pipelines of the facility were replaced with the new ones," the company noted.
The revamping allowed for prolonging the block's service life, automating all the operating processes and minimizing the risk of emergencies due to continuous automatic measurement of well operation indicators.
Additionally, the operations performed accelerated changes to the mode of gas extraction and pumping, lowered gas consumption when servicing the central unit and optimized power consumption by the administration building, Ukrtransgaz said.
