Zelensky, Kishida discuss Japanese PM's possible visit to Kiev

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had a 30-minute phone talk with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

In particular, they discussed the Japanese prime minister's possible visit to Kiev.

Kishida said he will play an important role during Japan's chairmanship of the G7, the Ukrainian media reported on January 6, citing NHK television.

"Japan will do everything possible to help, including to survive the winter, to protect Ukrainians' lives," Kishida said.

President Zelensky, for his part, expressed deep appreciation for Japan's position and spoke about the current situation in the country. The talk also addressed the possible visit by Kishida, who was invited to visit Kiev.

Zelensky thanked Japan for supplying generators to Ukraine. "I welcomed the prime minister of Japan on the start of Japan's chairmanship of the G7. I thanked his country for the powerful generators and transformers," Zelensky said on social networks.
