Energoatom places 1 out of 9 NPP units in Kiev-controlled territory on scheduled overhaul

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Ukraine's National Atomic Energy Company Energoatom on January 3 placed one of the power units on scheduled overhaul, which is carried out once every four years, to ensure nuclear and radiation safety under the terms of the license.

"During the overhaul, complete unloading of the reactor core, control of the integrity of the reactor vessel with an automatic robotic arm, preventative repair of equipment, removal of spent nuclear fuel and loading of the fresh one are performed," Ukrainian media reported, citing information from the company on social media.

Thus, eight out of the nine power units of the nuclear power plants located in Kiev-controlled territories will operate in the Ukrainian energy system in the near future, Energoatom said.
