Ukraine agrees on supplies of nearly 1,800 transformers, over 7,000 generators up to 100 kV - FM

MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Ukraine has agreed on the supply of nearly 1,800 transformers, 7,000 generators with a capacity of up to 100 kV and 600 generators with a capacity of over 100 kV to the country, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said.

"As of January 4, we managed to agree on the supplies of nearly 1,800 current and voltage transformers of variable capacity, more than 7,000 generators with a capacity of up to 100 kV and more than 600 generators with a capacity over 100 kV, over 40 kilometers of cables and hundreds of names of spare parts for power equipment, heaters, etc.," Kuleba said during an online press briefing, according to Ukrainian media reports.

Meanwhile, parliamentarian Yaroslav Zheleznyak (Golos faction) said that Ukraine imported 669,400 generators in 2022.

"A total of 643,800 of these generators were imported by enterprises and 25,500 by citizens (some four percent of the total amount)," the Ukrainian media reported on January 6, citing his social networks.

Almost half of the generators, 309,400, were imported in December, which is 52 times more than at the beginning of the year, when a little more than 6,000 were imported, Zheleznyak said.

There was a stable increase in demand during the year, although fewer generators, 4,600, were imported in March, he said.

According to the State Property Fund of Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) provided to Ukraine under a humanitarian program 2,500 household generators worth $100 million, which will help with power supply to critical and social infrastructure facilities (schools, kindergartens, healthcare establishments, and heating points).

The Ukrainian media reported that the Fund said in its release on January 6 that Ukraine had received the second batch of 1,300 generators, in addition to the first batch of 1,200 generators that arrived in late December.

WAM Agency earlier reported the generators supplied were household generators with capacity of 3.5 to 8 kilowatt.
