Turkmenistan, China sign memorandums on cooperation in gas sector, digitalization

ASHGABAT. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chinese President Xi Jinping signed agreements on bilateral cooperation in sectors of the economy and energy following talks in Beijing, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

The countries also signed a memorandum on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China for 2023-2024; a memorandum of understanding between their governments on facilitation of investment cooperation in the digital economy; a memorandum of understanding on facilitation of investment cooperation in green development; and a memorandum of understanding on linking the "Revival of the Great Silk Road" and "One Belt One Road" international initiatives.

State gas company Turkmengaz and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the gas sector. CNPC also signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkmenistan's Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University.

Turkmenistan's Health Ministry and China's National Health Commission signed an action plan on healthcare for 2023-2027.

A number of other signed documents call for cooperation in culture, education, sports and media. Memorandums on cooperation were signed by the National Olympic Council of Turkmenistan and the Chinese Olympic Committee; and Turkmenistan's State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports and China's General Administration of Sport.

The two countries' culture ministries signed a plan for cooperation in culture for 2023-2026; and Turkmenistan's State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and the China Media Group signed a memorandum on cooperation in information and news; and Turkmenistan's Magtymguly State University and Beijing Foreign Studies University signed a memorandum on cooperation.
