Armenian PM announces $10-mln assistance to Nagorno-Karabakh

YEREVAN. Dec 29 (Interfax) - Armenia will provide $10.1-million in financial assistance to Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

"Armenia will provide an additional 4 billion drams ($10.1 million) to Nagorno-Karabakh. The provision of humanitarian, social and psychological assistance to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh is a must," Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.

The humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has been worsening amid the Azerbaijani blocking of the Lachin corridor that connects the region to Armenia, Pashinyan said. "The shortage of basic necessities is getting worse. There is a strained social and psychological situation in society," he said.

The Armenian government has set up a working group to assist Nagorno-Karabakh, including with the help of international organizations, Pashinyan said.
