Shortage in Ukraine's energy system increases due to shutdown of power generation units - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The electricity shortage in Ukraine's power system has increased as of December 28 due to the shutdown of a number of power plant units because of damage to the gas infrastructure in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrenergo national energy company said.

According to Ukrainian media, the company noted in its daily update on social media on Wednesday that thanks to relatively warm weather, consumption restrictions have not been applied at night for the fourth day in a row, nevertheless, the available capacity is not enough to cover all the consumers' needs.

In this regard, consumption limits are still in effect, the excess of which results in emergency shutdowns, Ukrenergo said.
