Ukraine announces tender for gain supply under Grain from Ukraine initiative

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has declared its readiness to begin negotiations on buying two batches of wheat of at least 3rd class to be supplied to Africa and Asia under the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian food initiative.

There will be a tender for FOB (free on board) delivery of 32,000 tonnes of wheat, alongside the shipment of 27,000 tonnes of wheat from Ukraine's Black Sea deep-water ports in January 2023, the Ukrainian media said with the reference to the website of the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.

The Ukrainian government adopted a resolution in November 2022 to approve the allotment of UAH 900 million to the Interior Ministry's unit, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, for buying 64,000 tonnes of corn or wheat in Ukraine and delivering the grains to Sudan, Yemen, Kenya and Nigeria. Ukraine also pledged to ship at least 125,000 tonnes of wheat and corn (at least 3rd class) from its reserves.

Last week, the Ukrainian government decided to enlarge humanitarian aid to Africa and Asia by 21,000 tonnes of corn or wheat. The four countries will thus receive up to 210,000 tonnes of grain from Ukraine.

More than 30 countries and international organizations joined the Grain from Ukraine initiative as of late November 2022, and over $180 million donations were raised in total.
