IRKUTSK. Dec 26 (Interfax) - The Irkutsk Region government and Gazprom LNG Technologies LLC have signed an agreement on the development of liquefied natural gas production and distribution infrastructure in the region, the press service for the regional government said in a statement.

The document stipulates, in particular, the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production line with a capacity of 0.75 tonnes per hour on the territory of the Kovykta gas condensate field. This will be the first stage, with the second stage being construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facility with a capacity of 3 tonnes per hour.

"The project should be implemented by early 2025. Approximate investments will amount to 3 billion rubles," the statement said.

The main segment of LNG sales will be the transport industry, and the possibility of autonomous gasification of boiler units in the Irkutsk Region also being considered.

According to the regional government, the territory for placement of the LNG liquefaction line has been determined, comprehensive LNG resource provision is being developed, rights for the land plots are being registered, main process equipment has been determined, a supplier has been chosen and design work carried out.

"Since there are now a number of interested consumer and transport companies in the region to use LNG, with the active assistance of the region's leadership in Q3 of next year we are already planning to launch a cryogenic filling station using LNG," the press service quoted Gazprom LNG Technologies chief Ivan Kozhevnikov as saying.
