Emergency power outages continuing in Kiev, Kiev region - DTEK

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Emergency power outages are continuing in Kiev and the Kiev region on Monday, the Ukrainian media said quoting a statement by DTEK Kiev Grids and Kiev Regional Grids published on a social network.

According to the company, stabilization power outages by schedule have been suspended, and repairs are ongoing.

"This is necessary to balance the power grid and to avoid equipment breakdowns," it said.

The Ukrainian media said with the reference to Ukrenergo that the Ukrainian power grid still had a substantial deficit of capacity on December 26. As the consumption limits were exceeded, Kiev and some regions, including Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Lvov ones, had emergency power outages.

The company said in a daily update on a social network that repairs would take quite long due to the scale and complexity of damage done to equipment and certain key facilities.
