KfW to provide 16.4 mln euros to upgrade water supply systems in Ukraine's Chernovtsy

MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax) - KfW Development Bank will provide a grant of 16.4 million euros to the Chernovtsy Water Canal company to help upgrade local municipal water utilities.

The Ukrainian government, for its part, has endorsed a draft decree on signing a grant and project agreement, Ukrainian media said, citing the press service of Ukraine's Ministry on the Development of Communities and Territories.

The grant will help fund the reconstruction of water mains, pumping stations and water purification facilities, the acquisition and installation of equipment, such as smart water meters, repair and measuring equipment, equipment for chemical laboratories, specialized transport, instruments, etc.

The aforementioned decree was drafted pursuant to the financial cooperation agreement, which was signed by the Ukrainian and German governments on December 17, 2020 and was ratified by Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada on June 15, 2021, the ministry said.
