Lithuania bans its Russian, Belarusian residents from possessing guns

MINSK. Dec 22 (Interfax) - Russian and Belarusian citizens permanently residing in Lithuania have been banned from possessing firearms, the country's parliament said on Thursday.

The bill imposing a "ban on the acquisition and storage of a firearm, related accessories, ammunition and their parts for the citizens of the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus, who do not have Lithuanian citizenship," passed by a 112-1 vote with 13 abstentions and is due to become law on April 1, 2023.
