Ukraine's Energoatom hooks 9th unit of its NPPs to grid

MOSCOW. Dec 22 (Interfax) - Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, hooked up the ninth unit of its NPPs to the grid at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The unit, which was shut down for maintenance on December 18, is currently operating at 400 MW and is continuing to increase its output, Ukrainian media reported with reference to Energoatom.

As the national power grid operator Ukrenergo lifts the output restrictions in the relevant power node, the unit's capacity will be increased to the nominal level of 1,000 MW, after which all NPP units within Ukrainian-controlled territory would be operating at full capacity.

"Hence, all nuclear power units in Ukrainian-controlled territory are operating now," Energoatom said.
