Novorossiysk port boosts low-sulfur oil export capacity to 40 mln tonnes, next stage is 52 mln tonnes

MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - The Novorossiysk Sea Port has increased low-sulfur oil export capacity to 40 million tonnes, and the second stage of port capacity expansion - to 52 million tons - has begun, Nikolai Tokarev, head of Transneft , said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

"A large, serious project to expand the capacity of the Novorossiysk port has been implemented. This year we increased low-sulfur oil export capacity to 40 million tonnes. This is a large volume and a serious task. As scheduled, regardless of the current difficult situation, we planned to move to the second stage and increase the volume of exports through the Novorossiysk port to 52 million tonnes. These works are in progress, they were begun last year," he said.

"And in the Baltic we will increase capacity 52 million tons. We know how to do this, these works are also provided for. In the near future, a year or two, this prospect will be realized," Tokarev said.
