EU to give Ukraine's Lvov 19.5-mln-euro grant to build housing for IDPs with special needs

MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - The European Union will allocate 19.5 million euros to Lvov to build social housing for internally displaced persons (IDPs) with special needs as part of the Unbroken program, Ukrainian media said, citing the website of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

An agreement paving the way for such a grant was signed by the European Commission and the Lvov City council in Brussels on Monday.

The construction of two eight-storey buildings next to a social rehabilitation center will be completed by the beginning of winter 2023, according to the report.

"The EU will provide significant support to build housing for internally displaced persons," Deputy Director General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katarina Mathernova said.

Lvov, for its part, will have to provide a land plot for such social housing, connect all utilities and arrange landscaping and a bomb shelter.

Unbroken is a program to create Ukraine's first rehabilitation center in Lvov where 50,000 Ukrainians will be able to receive physical and psychological assistance and rehabilitation every year.
