Russia registers 8,451 new cases of Covid-19, 59 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,451 new cases of Covid-19 and 59 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Russia has recorded 8,451 cases of Covid-19 and 1,400 patients have been hospitalized over the day, up 1% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The daily morbidity has grown by 618 cases from 7,833 reported on Thursday. It has exceeded 8,000 cases for the first time since October 23.

Another 59 patients died from Covid-19 over the day, as against 57 the day before.

"Meanwhile 7,393 patients have recovered over the day, down 1.9% from December 15," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 37 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 38, and has remained unchanged in ten.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 21,701,321 cases of Covid-19, including 392,891 deaths and 21,096,061 recoveries.
