U.S. imposes sanctions on Russian governors, First Deputy PM Belousov

WASHINGTON. Dec 16 (Interfax) - The U.S. Department of the Treasury expanded the list of sanctions against Russia with First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov and a number of Russian governors on Thursday.

Restrictions have been imposed on Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Finance Minister overseeing the tax policy Alexei Sazanov, Russian Railways CEO and President Oleg Belozerov, and Chairman of the Sovcomflot state shipping company's Board of Directors Sergei Frank.

The sanctions will apply to Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov, Leningrad region Governor Alexander Drozdenko, Altai Territory Governor Viktor Tomenko, Stavropol Territory Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, Komi head Vladimir Uiba, Novosibirsk region Governor Andrei Travnikov, Krasnoyarsk Territory Governor Alexander Uss, and Kherson region government head Andrei Alexeyenko.

Kaliningrad region Governor Anton Alikhanov, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District Governor Dmitry Artyukhov, Lipetsk region Governor Igor Artamonov, Vladimir region Governor Alexander Avdeyev, Samara region Governor Dmitry Azarov, Volgograd region Governor Andrei Bocharov, and Bryansk region Governor Alexander Bogomaz are also under sanctions.

Additionally, there are restrictions on Vologda region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Sverdlovsk region Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev, Tyumen region Governor Alexander Moor, Novgorod region Governor Andrei Nikitin, Smolensk region Governor Alexei Ostrovsky, Orenburg region Governor Denis Pasler, Tambov region Governor Maxim Yegorov, Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, Rostov region Governor Vasily Golubev, Voronezh region Governor Alexander Gusev, Bashkortostan head Rady Khabirov, Sakha head Aisen Nikolayev, and Chuvashia head Oleg Nikolayev.
