Gazprom supplies Russian market with record for this time gas volumes at beginning of Dec amid cold

MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Gazprom produced 394.1 billion cubic meters of gas between January 1 and December 15, 2022, according to preliminary data, down 19.6% or by 96.3 bcm compared to last year, the Russian gas giant said.

Domestic market demand for the company's gas from the gas transmission system fell 5.2% or 12.5 bcm during this period, Gazprom said.

"At the same time, Gazprom supplied Russian consumers with a record volume of natural gas for comparable days through the gas transmission system daily amid cold temperatures between December 1 and December 9, with the largest daily volume, 1.605 bcm, supplied on December 7, 2022," it said.

Gas exports to countries not former members of the Soviet Union totaled 97.8 bcm, down 45.1% or by 80.2 bcm from the same period of 2021. Gazprom supplies gas in accordance with confirmed requests, it said.

Gas exports to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline are growing under the long-term bilateral contract between Gazprom and CNPC, Gazprom said. Supplies regularly exceed daily contractual volumes.

Gas is also being withdrawn from Ukraine's underground gas storage facilities. Gas reserves were down 13.6%% from last year by 2.1 bcm as of December 13, with 1.5 bcm of gas withdrawn, 26.5% of the volume of gas pumped in the summer, Gazprom said.
