Ukraine hopes to receive LED lamps for partners before yearend - PM Shmygal

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Ukraine expects to receive energy-saving LED lamps from partner countries before the end of 2022, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said, adding that lamps will be changed in establishments across the country.

"We expect to start receiving LED lamps before the end of this year. And we hope to replace all of them throughout the winter", Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying at a joint press conference with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in Paris on Tuesday.

The plan is to change 20 million-25 million lamps in households by replacing incandescent lamps with LED ones, the prime minister said. Lamps will also be changed in social sector establishments, such as schools, hospitals, kindergartens, and infrastructure facilities.

As reported, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the result of the conference in France could be an agreement on financing a project to buy LED lamps for Ukraine, as 50 million LED lamps help save approximately one gigawatt of power.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in turn, said that the European Commission stands ready to mobilize 30 million euros in order to procure 30 million LED lamps for Ukraine.
