Implementation timeline of gas chemical project in Ust-Luga shifting due to departure of European contractor - CBR report

MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - The implementation timeline for the project on construction of the ethane-containing gas processing complex in Ust-Luga has shifted due to the withdrawal of a European contractor, the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) said it its regional economy bulletin on Tuesday.

"The timeframe for some projects has shifted: the construction of an ethane-containing gas processing complex in the Leningrad Region due to the withdrawal of the European contractor from the project," the CBR said.

The ethane-containing gas processing complex is a project implemented by RusGazDobycha and Gazprom in Ust-Luga (Leningrad Region). All major technological processes for deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials - from primary gas processing with separation of valuable components to LNG production and polymer output - are consolidated at one site. The complex will include Russia's biggest gas processing facility (45 billion cubic meters per annum) and the biggest LNG facility in the European region (13 million tonnes per annum) as well as the biggest single polyethylene production capacity in the world (up to 3 million tons per annum).

There were initial plans to launch the first stages of the GPP and the LNG plant at the end of 2023 and the end of 2024.
