Miratorg, Vkusno i Tochka to launch construction of factory to produce French fries in 2023
MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Miratorg and the Vkusno i Tochka restaurant chain, formerly McDonald's in Russia, have reached an agreement to build a factory to produce frozen French fries, Miratorg said in a statement.
Construction is expected to begin as soon as next year, and the factory could be commissioned in 2024.
Concrete investments in the project were not specified. "This multiple billion project consists of several stages, among which is an increase in the cultivated area of specially chosen types of potatoes, as well as the creation of Miratorg's own seed fund," the statement said.
The factory will be located in a central region of Russia. Planned output will be at least 90,000 tonnes per year.
Vkusno i Tochka is located in 63 Russian regions, with 840 of around 850 restaurants currently resuming operations under the new brand following a period of inactivity.
Miratorg was founded in 1995 and is Russia's largest producer of pork and beef and one of the top ten producers of poultry. The company also produces ready meals and culinary products. The holding's structure includes grain companies, feed mills, elevators, pork complexes, and meat processing plants. Production is organized on a "field to counter" principle.
