U.S. sanctions Russian CEC, chair Pamfilova

WASHINGTON. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The United States Treasury on Friday imposed further anti-Russian sanctions for supposed human rights abuses, including on the Central Election Commission (CEC) and its chairperson Ella Pamfilova.

"OFAC [Office of Foreign Assets Control] also sanctioned the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, as well as its 15 members," the department said.

Also among those newly sanctioned are Nikolai Bulayev, CEC Deputy Chairperson and CEC Secretary Natalia Budarina, in relation to the referendums held in the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, Washington said.

A further six individuals, including Oleg Nesterov and Yevgeny Kim, both in the presidential administration, have been sanctioned for their role in what Washington referred to as "filtration" of the residents in the Russian special operation zone in Ukraine.
