Google to provide $2 mln, its specialists to help develop digital education in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - American tech giant Google will allocate a $2 million grant and will provide its specialists from Google.org Fellowship to help develop digital education in Ukraine, Ukrainian media outlets quoted the Digital Transformation Ministry as saying in a social media post on Friday.

As part of its joint project with Google.org, the Digital Transformation Ministry plans to update the platform of the Diia. Digital Education national project, including steps to introduce artificial intelligence elements to create customized learning plans and interactive simulators, which will allow users to familiarize themselves with real situations in professions, as well as retraining and advanced training recommendations.

In addition, the platform is expected to start offering a job search service based on users' areas of training and educational successes.

"Furthermore, the grant from Google.org envisions creating a specialized educational application and developing new educational series and projects," the ministry said.

The English-language version of the platform's features and educational products will also be available.

The Diia. Digital Education project team will be working together with Google.org Fellowship specialists.

Google's product managers, software engineers and marketing managers will be providing free of charge assistance over the next six months as part of efforts to enlarge the Diia. Digital Education project.

The goal of the project is to help Ukraine tackle unemployment among internally displaced persons and to contribute to the country's economic recovery. The project's partner is the East Europe Foundation.
