Russia to be presiding in EAEU in 2023

BISHKEK. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russia will be presiding in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in 2023, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said.

"In conclusion of Kyrgyzstan's presidency in the EAEU, I would like to wish the Russian Federation, which now becomes the president, success in this important mission to develop integration and promote the Eurasian Economic Union in the global economy," Japarov said at an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Bishkek on Friday.

He summed up the results of the Kyrgyz presidency in the EAEU and noted positive dynamics.

"In particular, I would like to mention the high performance of all Union bodies, including their work in the strategic areas of development of Eurasian economic integration in the period before 2025. Many priorities and initiatives mentioned in my address in the context of the presidency at the beginning of this year have been given a strong boost and, I hope, will be successfully continued in the future," Japarov said.

He said he was confident that the EAEU members, committed to Eurasian integration and the desire to improve the lives of their citizens, will reach "new horizons in the provision of free movement of goods, services, capital, and people."

Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia are EAEU members.
