Kyrgyz president urges EAEU leaders to maintain mutually beneficial trade, economic, investment partnership

BISHKEK. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) members need to do the utmost to develop mutually advantageous partnership amid global financial turbulence, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said at a narrow-format meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on Friday.

"Our meeting is taking place against the backdrop of global financial and economic turbulence. The economies of EAEU members are under heavy pressure. In these hard circumstances, it is crucial to do everything we can to maintain mutually advantageous trade, economic and investment partnership between our countries," Japarov said.

"Our commitment to the Eurasian integration serves as a solid basis for the Union's development and strengthening," he said.

According to the Kyrgyz presidential press service, the heads of state will have 17 items on the agenda, including the elimination of obstacles on the EAEU market, the operation of the market of services, the financing of industrial cooperation projects, and the formation of a common gas market.

The EAEU comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Kyrgyzstan is presiding in the Union in 2022.
