Eurasian Development Bank working on projects totaling $93 mln in Kyrgyzstan for 2023

ALMATY. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is working on a portfolio of projects totaling $93 million in Kyrgyzstan for 2023, Ruslan Dalenov, deputy chairman of the bank's executive board, said on Friday at a press conference.

The EDB project portfolio in the country will be nearly 83.3% less at $16 million in 2022. Contracts for $8 million have already been signed, and agreements for the same amount will be signed by the end of the year.

"As part of the country strategy in Kyrgyzstan, there are plans to implement projects totaling $161 million within five years with the financial support of the bank," Dalenov added.

EDB executive board chairman Nikolai Podguzov in turn at the press conference noted that the overall pool of the bank's projects in Kyrgyzstan is $500 million.

"We plan to invest in the project to construct the Kulunakskaya hydroelectric power plant, and in the process to update the project at the Kambar-Ata HPP-1. We have had a rather good start in Kyrgyzstan. I think 2023 will be a breakthrough year in the country," Podguzov concluded.
