Azerbaijan's foreign minister, U.S. diplomat discuss Baku-Yerevan peace treaty

BAKU. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the United States' Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Karen Donfried, spoke by telephone on Thursday, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The pair "exchanged their views on the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process and various issues on the Azerbaijan-U.S. cooperation agenda," the statement said.

Bayramov informed Donfried of the current state of peace talks, the efforts to unlock communications, and delimitation issues. Also mentioned were "Armenia's recent illegal activities carried out with the use of the Lachin road."

"Donfried stressed U.S. support for the efforts to ensure regional stability. She noted the importance of advancing the peace process in accordance with the agreements reached between the leaders and ministers," the statement said.
