Ukraine's energy system gradually recovering - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Ukrenergo electricity transmission system operator has reported a gradual recovery of the Ukrainian energy system.

"It will take a few more days to regain the electricity generation levels that existed before December 5. For now, electricity consumption limits have been relayed to all regions. Regretfully, consumption limits have been exceeded in some regions, which is why emergency power outages have been applied," the Ukrainian media quoted Ukrenergo as saying on a social network on Tuesday.

"Consumption limits will be adjusted depending on the resumption of power generation," Ukrenergo said, adding that power generation had been reduced by the damage to certain power plants and electricity transmission lines, causing temporary emergency blackouts.

Repair teams are doing their best to supply power by reserve schemes wherever that is possible, Ukrenergo said. For instance, power supply to critical infrastructure elements, such as hospitals, boiler houses and water mains, has resumed in the most part of the Odessa region, which was harmed worst together with the Kiev region.

According to head of the Kiev regional administration Alexei Kuleba, there is still no power supply to about half of the region. DTEK said, for its part, that critical infrastructure was operational in Odessa, and head of the Odessa regional administration Maxim Marchenko said that power supply to households was beginning.
