Tajikistan requires over $2 bln to develop 'green' economy by 2038

DUSHANBE. Dec 6 (Interfax) - Tajikistan will need 21.6 billion somoni, over $2 billion, in order to implement its strategy to develop the "green" economy in 2023-2037, according to a statement posted on the website of the country's Economic Development and Trade Ministry.

A strategy to develop Tajikistan's "green" economy in 2023-2037 was adopted based on the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon, as well as part of fulfilling the tasks of the presidential message titled "On the main directions of Tajikistan's domestic and foreign policy" that was approved on September 30, 2022.

"The purpose of the document is to carry out institutional reforms, ensure the efficient use of natural capital, attract investment, implement modern and innovative technologies, and solidify international cooperation toward a green economy," according to the press release.

The volume of financing for the strategy envisages investment support from financial institutions and development partners as key investors.
