Shmygal, Nuland discuss restoration of Ukraine's power grid

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland have discussed restoration of Ukraine's power grid and military and financial assistance.

"Ukraine received 80 heavy duty generators from the United States last week, they helped stabilize the electric power system. Restoration of our power grid and U.S. military and financial assistance have been discussed at a meeting with U.S. Under Secretary of State, friend of Ukraine Victoria Nuland," the Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying on a social network.

In his words, Ukraine needs prompt assistance in the provision of electric power equipment in order to conduct swift repairs of the damaged sites, Shmygal said.

"Thanked the American partners for extra $53 million assigned for repairs of Ukrainian power grids. We highly appreciate the support from President Biden and his administration, including the $37-billion initiative for Ukraine," he said.
