Ukraine receives another $1.5-bln grant from U.S. via World Bank - Finance Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Ukraine has received another $1.5-billion grant from the United States via the World Bank's trust fund, the Ukrainian media said with the reference to the Ukrainian Finance Ministry on Friday.

"This is the first tranche of a $4.5-billion grant provided by the United States via the World Bank's trust fund under the Emergency Public Service Support IPF (PEACE)," the ministry said.

The grants from the multi-donor trust fund will help pay pensions and finance certain programs of state social assistance, such as payment for housing and communal services, support for low-income families, children with disabilities, people with lifelong disabilities and internally displaced persons, as well as for payment for medical services under the program of medical guarantees.

Together with the U.S. contributions, Ukraine has received $10 billion as grants via the World Bank since the beginning of the crisis. Another $3 billion are expected to be received before the end of this year.
