Merger of Infrastructure Ministry and Regional Policy Ministry to bolster coordination in Ukraine's recovery - PM

MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax) - The merger of Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry and Regional Policy Ministry will help improve coordination as part of restoration efforts in the country's regions, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

"I congratulate Alexander Kubrakov on his appointment to the post of deputy prime minister and minister for the restoration of Ukraine and the development of regions, territories and infrastructure. The spheres of his responsibility will include infrastructure and regional development. This will make it possible to take a more systemic approach to planning the Ukraine recovery process," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Shmygal as saying in a social media post.

Kubrakov, in turn, said on social media after his appointment that the unified ministry will work on completing reforms in the fields construction, decentralization, digitalization and energy efficiency, Ukrainian media said.

"At the same time, we must sort things out as far as energy efficiency is concerned. The top priority is thermal modernization," he said.
