Tokayev and Macron note importance of building wind power plant in Kazakhstan

ALMATY. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have emphasized the importance of building a 1.2GW wind power plant in Kazakhstan, the two presidents said in a joint statement.

"Given the relevance of the climate agenda, [the presidents] noted the importance of a large-scale project to build a 1.2GW wind power plant in Kazakhstan with accumulation capability, a project that will facilitate Kazakhstan's transition to innovative zero-carbon energy sources," according to the document which was circulated following Tokayev's official visit to France.

This project symbolizes the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the countries in countering climate change, the statement said, without providing any further details.
