Ukrainian Alfa Bank to be renamed Sense Bank Dec 1

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Alfa Bank (Ukraine) will change its legal name to JSC Sense Bank as of December 1, Ukrainian media reported, citing the bank's press service.

The bank said its clients will not need to update contracts or replace cards with the Alfa logo, they will remain valid.

It was reported earlier that the Ukrainian Alfa Bank planned to change its name to Sense Bank after the Sense SuperApp digital bank it has been developing since the end of 2020. Shareholders approved the name change in August and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) gave its approval in September.

The bank has reported that its largest shareholders, indirectly, are Andrei Kosogov with 40.9614% (the stakes of German Khan and Alexei Kuzmichev were transferred to him after they were hit by sanctions), Mikhail Fridman with 32.8632%, Peter Aven with 12.4018%, Italy's UniCredit S.p.A with 9.9% and Mark Foundation for Cancer Research with 3.8736%. Under an agreement with the NBU, former Bulgarian Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov has been given the voting rights for the stakes held by Kosogov, as well as Fridman and Aven, who are also subject to sanctions.

Alfa Bank (Ukraine) was the seventh largest by assets of the 68 banks operating in the country as of July 1, 2022, NBU data showed.
