Ukraine asks U.S. to help with gas for heating - Naftogaz CEO

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Naftogaz of Ukraine CEO Alexei Chernyshov has asked the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to help with additional natural gas volumes for the heating season.

"I continue cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in a new role. I held a meeting with Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at USAID Erin McKee. The key is the additional volume of gas needed to get through this heating season," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Chernyshov as saying in a social media post.

Chernyshov said that the issue of promptly providing Ukraine with materials and equipment, on which USAID is working now, was discussed at the meeting.

"In particular, we are talking about methanol, gas compressors, diesel generators and equipment for gas production," Chernyshov said.

Naftogaz's priorities include regaining the trust of foreign partners and Eurobond holders, the company's corporate governance reform and the transparency of appointing its new supervisory board, he said.
