Novak: We are counting on participation of Chinese partners in the Ust-Luga project, LNG supplies to China from project are promising

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Russia is counting on the participation of Chinese partners in the Ust-Luga project, and supplies of liquefied natural gas to China from the project are promising, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the IV Russia-China Energy Business Forum in Moscow.

"The Yamal LNG plant is operating successfully - this is a joint project between the Russian company Novatek , China National Petroleum Corporation and Silk Road Fund. The second large-scale Arctic LNG 2 is being implemented jointly with the Chinese companies CNPC and CNOOC with a capacity of more than 20 million tonnes per year. We count on the participation of Chinese partners in the Ust-Luga project with a capacity of 13 million tonnes of LNG per year. The issue of organizing long-term gas supplies to China from this plant is promising. Work is underway to conclude an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the implementation of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex, and the supply of low-carbon ammonia and hydrogen to the Chinese markets is also being considered in the future," he said.

Novak told reporters later that Russia was inviting Chinese companies to join the Ust-Luga project both as investors and contractors. "We are talking about investors, and builders, and suppliers - we invite you to join the projects we are implementing. All this is being discussed strategically - partnership opportunities," Novak said.
