Naftogaz claims almost 100% of homes, social facilities in Ukraine have heat

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Ukraine has begun the heating season, despite heavy damage to its energy infrastructure, Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement state oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukraine issued Monday after a meeting of the command center for fall/winter preparations.

"The heating season in Ukraine has started. We are continuing to provide heating to the country, despite the current conditions [...] 99.7% of boiler houses have begun operations, heating is being provided to 99.6% of residential buildings, 97.9% of kindergartens, 98.9% of schools and 99.9% of healthcare institutions. However, the main objective today is to ensure the continuous operation of these facilities and quickly restore damaged ones," the company said on Telegram.

The company also said that 316 heating facilities, or 53.3% of the total number of damaged ones, have now been restored.
