Belgium, Canada to supply power equipment to Ukraine

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Belgium is ready to supply generators and other kinds of power equipment to Ukraine, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said after a meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.

He thanked Belgium for backing the Grain from Ukraine Initiative, the Ukrainian media said.

Zelensky also thanked De Croo for signing a joint declaration, "which demonstrates Belgium's support for our advancement towards the EU and NATO."

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian media said with the reference to Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Yulia Kovaliv that Canada would allot 10 million Canadian dollars for buying generators for Ukraine.

"The project will be fulfilled together with IOM Ukraine," Kovaliv said on a social network.

For its part, the European Commission is preparing to send 200 medium-sized transformers, two autotransformers, and 40 generators to Ukraine.

The European Commission is arranging emergency support to Ukraine via the Emergency Response Coordination Center to make the repairs and to supply power and heat to households.

The Ukrainian media said with the reference to the EU Delegation to Ukraine that 200 medium-sized transformers and a large autotransformer would be supplied from Lithuania, in addition to a medium-sized autotransformer from Latvia and 40 heavy-duty generators from Romania-based European Commission reserves (rescEU).
