European Commission says not planning to ban Russian gas imports

BRUSSELS. Nov 25 (Interfax) - The European Commission does not plan and has never planned to impose a ban on Russian gas imports, European Commission Spokesperson Eric Mamer said.

"We've never considered a ban on Russian gas. We have taken measures related to oil, Russian oil transported to the EU by pipeline with some minor exceptions, as you know. But we have never announced any work on a ban on Russian gas. And that has not changed," Mamer said at a press briefing in Brussels, when asked about possible plans to completely ban Russian gas in the EU.

Asked about the status of the proposal on capping prices for Russian oil, Mamer replied, "Discussions are ongoing on this and it will continue today at the level of ambassadors to the EU."
