Ukraine joins Global Partnership for Education

MOSCOW. Nov 23 (Interfax) - Ukraine has become a member of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and may receive grant assistance of $43 million, the Ukrainian Education and Science Ministry said.

"For almost 20 years, the Global Partnership for Education has been creating appropriate conditions for making education accessible for millions of children. A partnership with GPE also means long-term results, transformational changes and the formation of a sustainable education system," Ukrainian media quoted Ukraine Education and Science Minister Sergei Shkarlet as saying.

This partnership supports, first and foremost, priority objectives set by the Ukrainian government, including teachers' professional development, the provision of psychological support to children and teachers, supplying educational establishments with class materials and equipment, and support for the digital transformation of the education system, the ministry said.

As reported, GPE has been working in close coordination with humanitarian partners and development partners, including the private sector, in order to mobilize resources to support educational needs in Ukraine.
