Japan to provide Ukraine with $2.57-mln emergency grant for winter preparations

MOSCOW. Nov 23 (Interfax) - The Japanese government decided on November 22 to allot an emergency grant of about $2.57 million to support preparations of the Ukrainian energy sector for winter, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

"The Japanese government will assist Ukraine via the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) by providing generators and solar lamps to Ukraine," the Ukrainian media quoted the statement as saying.

The Japanese government will continue to assist and support the people of Ukraine struggling with difficulties together with G7 and other members of the international community, the statement said.
