Russia, Nicaragua discuss peaceful uses of atomic energy

MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - The state Rosatom corporation and Nicaragua have agreed to establish dialog on the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, Rosatom said after the relevant road map was signed during Atomexpo 2022.

The document also defines concrete steps for both parties to take over the next two years in the non-energy uses of atomic energy in Nicaragua, and an assessment of the prospects for projects in geothermal, hydro and wind power.

The countries a year ago signed a memorandum on peaceful uses of atomic energy, setting forth a basis for the development of cooperation in a wide range of areas, in particular, raising public awareness about nuclear technologies, the development of nuclear infrastructure of the Republic of Nicaragua, non-energy applications of nuclear energy in industry, agriculture and medicine, Rosatom said.
