Rosatom plans to pour first concrete at NPP in Hungary in 2023

SOCHI. Nov 21 (Interfax) - Russia's Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation expects relations with Hungary to allow the company to start constructing nuclear power plants in the country next year, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev told reporters on the sidelines of the Atom Expo 2022 forum in Sochi.

"The Hungarian project, as a European project, is at greater risk than any of our other projects," Likhachev said when commenting on the effect of sanctions on the Paks-2 NPP project.

"However, our relations with the Hungarian customer, our relations with the Hungarian government, with our Hungarian business partners, still allow for the project to develop," Likhachev said.

"Our plans for the next year are to pour the first concrete, obtain all the necessary licenses, and fully expand construction work," the CEO said.

"However, I want to emphasize that the project's progress going forward is determined by both parties," Likhachev concluded.
