Tokayev wins Kazakh presidential election with 81.31% of vote - CEC's preliminary data
ASTANA. Nov 21 (Interfax) - Incumbent Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is winning the presidential election of last Sunday with 81.31% of the vote, Kazakh Central Elections Commission (CEC) Chairman Nurlan Abdirov said on Monday, while presenting tentative results.
"Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev gained 6,456,392 votes, or 81.31%," Abdirov said at a CEC meeting.
In his words, 5.8% of voters chose "none of the above," which was the second highest ranking option in the election.
Alliance of Social Workers nominee Karakat Abden gained 2.6% of the vote, the CEC said.
Candidate of the opposition Nationwide Social Democratic Party Nurlan Auesbayev got 2.22% of the vote.
Jiguli Dairabayev of the Auyl People's Democratic Patriotic Party was chosen by 3.42% of voters.
Candidate of the Amanat Commonwealth of Trade Unions candidate Meiram Kazhyken received 2.53% of the vote.
Candidate of the Qazaq Analary - Dasturge Zhol (Kazakh mothers - path to traditions) civil association Saltanat Tursynbekova got 2.12%.
According to the CEC update, the voter turnout in the early presidential election stood at 69.44%, he said.
As many as 8,300,046 out of 11.953 million voters cast their ballots.
It was reported on Sunday that the voter turnout reached 69.43%.
