Russia, Pakistan agree to expand cooperation on motor transportation

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Russia and Pakistan have signed an intergovernmental agreement on international motor communication, the Russian Transport Ministry press service said.

The document was signed on the sidelines of the Russian Transport exhibit attended by Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev and Pakistani Communications Minister Asad Mehmood on Wednesday.

The signing of the agreement creates a contractual and legal foundation for motor transportation between the two countries. Passenger and cargo transportation, including transit on the territory of Russia and Pakistan, and also to and from third countries with which the parties to the agreement have similar agreements, will take place on the basis of the document.

"The signing of the document will expand the geography of cargo transportation by motor transport using the routes of the North-South international transport corridor, including as regards entry of the territory of Pakistan through the territory of Iran. Additional potential capabilities in the sphere of motor transportation will be created for Russian and Pakistani carriers," the Russian Transport Ministry said in its report.
